About us

a bit of history

Tweed Valley 4WD Club was established by local 4WD enthusiasts in 1991. We started as a group of 4 couples and have slowly grown in numbers since then.

We are a group of like-minded friends with an interest in Four Wheel Driving, Camping and the great Outdoors. We are a young at heart mature age family orientated club, with singles, couples and a handful of children. We are a small and tightly knit group and consider each other family. The small numbers make this possible.

There are people from all walks of life and occupations making it a very interesting mix.

The Club is a member of the Four Wheel Drive Queensland  which is the governing body representing the interests of 4WD clubs and enthusiasts.

range of 4WD experience

There is a whole range of experience with 4 Wheel Driving in our club.

There are some experienced 4WD enthusiasts in the club and some like to push it harder than the others. But generally, we enjoy the scenic, easy, or moderate tracks. We are not out to damage our vehicles or our environment.

There are those who are new to 4WD too.  Under the guidance of the more experienced members, they learn the ropes at their own pace and grow in confidence.

From time to time we organise 4WD driver awareness sessions where we get to practice some hill starts and stops, steep descents, snatch strap towing and winching procedures, sand driving, and the use of tracks to get out of muddy terrain.  Ladies are encouraged to do the driving too.

You are in charge and responsible for your own driving. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do.

range of vehicle types
& camping styles

There is a whole range of vehicles and camping styles

There is a wide range of vehicle types that members own with or without modifications. You do not need to have a modified car to belong to our club.

However, you will need to have an installed UHF radio so we can communicate with each other especially in convoy.  You will also need front and rear rated recovery points and snatch strap so we can get you out of trouble and you can help recover another vehicle.

The type of camping also ranges from simply pitching a tent or sleeping in a swag, to towing camper trailers, and caravans.

Your choice.

monthly club meetings
& Newsletters

We hold regular monthly meetings and encourage all our members to attend

Tweed Valley 4WD Club Inc is an incorporated association and are bound by the constitution to hold regular minuted meetings presided by the President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the club.

Meetings run from February to November with December and January set aside for a social get together at a suitable location. Members are encouraged to attend all the meetings but we understand that it may not be possible every month.

Our monthly Newsletters are emailed to keep you informed.

Meetings are held regularly on the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm (NSW time) at the South Tweed Sports Club in Minjungbal Drive, Tweed Heads South, NSW.  Generally, the members meet up an hour earlier to have dinner together before the meeting starts.

The best way to get to know us, is to come along to our monthly meetings and decide if we are the group for you.

We look forward to meeting you!
